Last class of the year!
This is a regular CKD class (NOT) with a best Christmas hat competition, games, team events and entertainment and prizes. Doesn't cost you anything except 2 hours of your time! This will be held on 19th of December at the Woking CKD School from 1 - 3pm! Don't miss it!
CHRISTMAS DO
It's that time of year when you get a chance to socialise with your fellow students and instructors! The Surrey CKD Christmas do will be on Saturday 5th of this month. The party starts at 7pm and will be at the Old Sergeants Mess, Bisley National Shooting Centre, Brookwood, GU24 0NY. Tickets are £10 each. See you there!

Licence renewals
Please can all students and instructors alike take note that without a valid insurance you will not be permitted to train. Also we need you to bring in your old licences at the time you renew as we now work directly with the insurance providers and need your number from the previous insurance slip.

As explained in class you have no cover until your form and payment reach the insurers. Hence these need to be renewed about 4 weeks in advance in a batched lot.
KOREAN SEMINAR
Grandmaster Choi has long dreamed about introducing Choi Kwang Do in his home country of Korea. After many years of hard work and dedication, this dream has now become a reality. Choi Kwang Do Martial Art International is preparing for a seminar that has the impact of ground shaking proportions! YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS! Master Brophy is already booked to go with a further 6 Surrey CKD instructors & students. Current deal that is available is flight and 9 days of accommodation for £730 (£100 deposit required ASAP, balance due at the end of July). The longer you leave it, the prices will be going up. Let Master Brophy know ASAP if you would like to attend.
Yearly payers
As we do every year at this time is to offer 10 places on a first come first served basis, for students to make a big saving on their monthly fees by paying for a year in advance and getting 2 months of training for free.
Adult on S.O £660 Advanced fee £550
Child on S.O £540 Advanced fee £450
Families are also welcome to take this option, but please remember it is only available to a total of 10 people. There remain only 2 places left for this option, don't delay!
BLACK BELT CLASS
The class will be on the 5th of this month at 3pm. There is a £2.50 attendance fee charge (since the class has to be self-funding). Please be aware that this class will be full on and unlike like anything you may as yet have experienced.
Grading
Remember the grading is now at the Woking College, Rydens Way, Woking GU22 9DL
This month's grading will be on Sunday the 20th. Team 2 is on duty. The format for the day will run to a new timetable, shown below: -
12am All duty instructors arrived and ready/ time for lunch and pre grading briefing.
12.10am Line up, pledge & principles
12.15pm Brown, Red & purple belts
12.55pm Blue, Green & Orange belts
1.25pm Gold & Yellow belts
1.55pm White belts
Grading results will be given at the end of each group testing.
All people who remain on the confirmed list must return their grading application form with payment no later than the 19th of the month. Failure to attend the grading without 48 hours prior notification will result in 50% of the prepaid grading fee being lost. Application forms can be obtained from your Chief Instructors.

If you think you should be on the grading list and are not or that you don't feel ready, please let your instructor know ASAP. NB. Master Brophy / Kwangjangnim Scrimshaw make all final decisions regarding grading.
Black belt academy
The black belt academy class will be on Sunday 20th at 10am. All members of the BBA will need to bring their black belt academy cards so they get stamped for their efforts in the last quarter. Make sure also that you attend to learn the new curriculum techniques for this new quarter. This is the final class of the year so all of you need to be here to get your final stamps on the techniques you have been taught over the year.
Assistant instructors
For those students who are considering an enhancement to their training and a chance to get more involved in classes, application forms for the position of assistant instructor will be available from the 4th of January. You must be over 14 years of age and at the rank of gold belt junior or higher. This position involves a financial commitment, details supplied with the application forms.
Instructors class
There will be NO class this month due to the extended black belt academy class. ALL instructors are due to be there for a 10am start!
NEW INCENTIVE SCHEME!
Master Brophy has given the ok to a new scheme to help you all save a little money. If you introduce a friend to CKD and they sign up, then for as long as they are training and paying a monthly fee you get £5 off EVERY coloured belt or black belt tag grading (this does not apply to full Dan rank gradings). So if you get 3 friends to sign up, for example, you will ONLY pay £10 for your grading for as long as they are training and paying a monthly fee!

All those of you who are grading will need to be at the hall stretched and ready to grade with administration done by 09.50am.
