NEWSLETTER FOR THE SURREY CHOI KWANG DO SCHOOLS

It's a busy month!
There's a whole bunch of stuff happening this month, so don't miss out! A few students didn't get to grade last month because they didn't read the newsletter. Also apologies to the students who came early to the BBA on Sunday, it was a typing error in the last newsletter. BBA is only 10-12 in December the rest of the year it is from 11-12. If ever you are uncertain about a regular event listed in the newsletter, check the events for the year calendar to be on the safe side.
DEMONSTRATION TEAM PRACTICE
Will be on saturday the 13th from 1 - 3pm. The format in now in draft, so we will all need to be in attendance to make any necessary changes!
BUDDY DAYS!
The first of these events will be on Saturday 6th of this month at the Farnborough & Woking schools and Tuesday 9th at Chessington.
You should have taken a buddy day card for your friend. They will need to complete the top section and bring it along with them. Remember it is only one friend per person as you will be teaching them. They will need to wear loose fitting sports clothing, a drink of water and something warm to put over themselves at the end. If they are under the age of 18 they will need a parent or guardian with them or one of your parents present for the class. They can try 1 or 2 classes as they wish at the end of which we will need them to complete their buddy day registration card and hand these in. If they are interested in joining, there are some very special offers available to them if they have attended one of these sessions.

Licence renewals
Please can all students and instructors alike take note that without a valid insurance you will not be permitted to train. Also we need you to bring in your old licences at the time you renew as we now work directly with the insurance providers and need your number from the previous insurance slip.

As explained in class you have no cover until your form and payment reach the insurers. Hence these need to be renewed about 4 weeks in advance in a batched lot.
Instructors
The instructor's class this month will be on the 28th at 10am. There will be a review of the BBA curriculum and technical home work for you all.
ASSISTANT INSTRUCTORS COURSE
ALL instructors should be in attendance. The course begins at 10am, on Sunday 7th, don't be late please ladies and gentlemen, and bring some lunch, paper and a pen please. You will need your dobok and equipment.
Black belt class
This month the black belt class will be on Saturday 20th at 3 o'clock. There is a £2.50 class attendance fee as the class is self funding. We will be grafting hard so be ready!
Grading
Remember the grading is now at the Woking College, Rydens Way, Woking GU22 9DL
This month's grading will be on Sunday the 28th Team 2 is on duty. The format for the day will run to a new timetable, shown below: -
12am All duty instructors arrived and ready/ time for lunch and pre grading briefing.
12.10am Line up, pledge & principles
12.15pm Brown, Red & purple belts
12.55pm Blue, Green & Orange belts
1.25pm Gold & Yellow belts
1.55pm White belts
Grading results will be given at the end of each group testing.
All people who remain on the confirmed list must return their grading application form with payment no later than the 20th of the month. Failure to attend the grading without 48 hours prior notification will result in 50% of the prepaid grading fee being lost. Application forms can be obtained from your Chief Instructors.

Black belt academy
The black belt academy class will be on Sunday 28th at 11am. It is important that as many of you make this class as the new techniques for this year will be taught, remember that these are the hardest ones to learn. Also you will need to be there to collect your new BBA cards for 2010.
Senior class
This month the senior class will be Sunday 14th at 12 o'clock. We will be working on multiple opponent close range drills, speed drill mechanics and stopping kicks. Please remember that there is a £4 attendance fee for this class as it is self-funding.
Ladies class
This month the ladies class will be Sunday 14th at 10 o'clock. We will be paying particular focus to increase kicking speed and strength. We will also be looking at improving flexibility. Please remember that there is a £4 attendance fee for this class as it is self-funding. Don't worry about it being valentines day, it will remind your other half to make sure that it is not wise to forget the occasion!
Finally
It's been a cold start to the year ladies and gents! Make sure that you wrap up in something warm before you leave class. There are enough nasty colds and flu's going around without any of you volunteering for more! Take care of yourselves! Pil Suhng!
